The Counterfeit or Genuine app is now available for Android. This app can scan the 20 and 50 Euro notes. The app switches automatically between the old and new note of 20 Euro.This app is working on the Samsung Galaxy S4, S5 and S6 and the Nexus 5 and 6, on Android 4.2 and higher.The Genuine or Counterfeit app is an aid for checking euro banknotes. This app has been developed by De Nederlandsche Bank.
If you have a banknote that looks strange or suspect, then let this app help you.
Place the banknote on a flat surface. The app will then automatically take a picture. It will compare this picture with information on genuine banknotes. Swipe to find the right note. The app switches automatically between the old and new notes of euro 20. The app will notify you whether the banknote is OK. If the app is unable to verify whether the note is all right, you will also be notified – but please note: this may mean that the note is counterfeit, but it could also be the case that the banknote is genuine but too crumpled or worn to be verified. Therefore, In all cases also check the banknote yourself using the look feel tilt method. Also make sure that your app and phone software is up to date.
The app has been tested on all counterfeit banknotes registered by De Nederlandsche Bank up to March 13, 2015.
